Overview
The 16th International Conference on Information Systems Development
(ISD2007) was hosted by the Cairnes Graduate School of Business
& Public Policy at National University of Ireland, Galway from August
29-31, 2007.
The theme of the conference was"Challenges in Practice, Theory and
Education", and it included tracks on Managing IS Development, Innovation
in Information Systems Development, Enterprise Systems Development &
Adoption, Public Information Systems Development, Agile and High-Speed
Systems Development Methods, Information Systems Engineering, Business
Systems Analysis & Design, Data and Information Modelling, ISD Education,
ISD in Developing Nations, Legal and Administrative Aspects of ISD, Service
Oriented Modelling and Semantic Web Technologies.
In total, 115 delegates from 27 different countries registered for the
conference, making it a truly international event. Of 131 papers submitted,
84 were presented at the conference.
Over the course of three days, 29 paper sessions were held,
covering a range of areas such as: Agile Methods, Usage of Systems Development
Methods, Method Tailoring, Users & Usability, Web Development Methods,
Requirements Analysis, Business Process Modelling, Systems Analysis &
Design, ISD in Developing Nations, ISD in Public Sector Organisations,
Socio-technical Aspects of ISD, Human Resources Issues in ISD, Knowledge
Management in ISD, ERP Systems Development & Implementation, Legal
& Ethical Dimensions of ISD, Management of ISD, Information Systems
Security, ISD Education & Training, E-Learning Technologies, Project
& Requirements Management, Data Quality & Integrity, Database
Design, Practical Applications of Database Technologies, Web Services,
Automation of Software Development, and Information Systems Engineering.
Keynote addresses were delivered by Mike Roche of IBM
Dublin Software Laboratory, and Prof. Stefan Decker of Digital
Enterprise Research Institute (DERI).

ISD2007 Conference Awards
The following awards were presented at ISD2007:
- Best Reviewer Award: Roland Kaschek (Massey University,
New Zealand)
This award was given to the member of the international programme
committee who was deemed to have submitted the most diligent and helpful
reviews.
- Best Overall Contribution Award: Brian Henderson-Sellers
(University of Technology, Sydney)
This award was given to the delegate who was deemed to have made
the most significant overall contribution to the conference, including
such aspects as the quality of reviews completed, the quality of papers
submitted, chair roles, and general participation in the conference.
- Best Paper Award: “Model Curriculum for
a Bachelor of Science Program in Business Information Systems Design
(BISD 2007): Organisational Impacts” Sven Carlsson, Jonas

- Best Paper Nominee: "A Failure to Learn
